X-Rays, MRIs, and Imaging
Diagnostic Tests: Effective and Expensive
The U.S. has some of the best, most modern health care technology. Diagnostic tests, such as CAT scans, MRIs, and other imaging services can detect a variety of life-threatening problems.
However, costs for those tests continue to increase as companies develop newer equipment. New equipment is not always better at detecting a health concern than existing technologies. For example, while MRI tests are great for looking at certain kinds of tissue, traditional X-rays do a better job at examining bones.
It's important to talk with your doctor when it comes to diagnostic imaging tests to determine which is a better choice for you in terms of cost and effectiveness.
