Hospitals Changing Tiers for Improved Quality and Cost Scores

Blue Options is designed to empower our members with a range of cost and quality incentives, educational tools, and provider options, and is one of our fastest growing products.
As a result of improvements in providers' quality and cost performance, we will be updating the hospital tiering for Blue Options v.3 benefit designs. The update will be effective in a one-day change for all Blue Options v.3 plans and accounts on January 1, 2011. There is no change to our methodology.
Five hospitals will be moving from the Basic Benefits Tier to either the Enhanced or Standard Benefits Tier. As a result, members will have lower out-of-pocket costs.
| Hospital Name | New Tier, Effective January 1, 2011 | Reason for Tier Improvement |
