Over the next few weeks, employers that have a fully insured (premium) financial arrangement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts will receive one of the following surveys in the mail.
The survey will provide a reference number, and you will need to have the reference number to complete the survey.
About the PPACA and MSP Survey
The recently enacted The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) law requires Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts to calculate medical loss ratio standards for a given calendar year by market segment (individual, small, and large group) and provide premium rebates for market segments that do not meet the minimum medical loss ratio standards. To do so, we need to categorize employers as "Small" or "Large" as defined by PPACA.
To comply with federal Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) laws, we need you to update us annually with your company's status under MSP laws. The total number of employees employed by your company determines your MSP status; this includes all employees and is not limited to those associated with your Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts account.
We can't combine the PPACA and MSP surveys into one survey because they each calculate group size differently.
