New Behavioral Health Program Available to Select Members
Beginning April 1, 2014, we are offering a new program for select members with behavioral health conditions—at no additional cost to members. The goal of the program is to provide these members with community support services that will assist them in achieving healthier, more stable lives while reducing their health care costs.
The program is for Blue Cross members of any age who have significant difficulties with mental illness or substance abuse. They also must have a fully insured HMO or PPO health plan and live in Massachusetts. We identify members who may benefit from this program using claims history and referrals from our behavioral health case managers. It's important to note that these members will be encouraged to participate but will not be required to do so.
To help improve these members' physical and mental wellbeing, the program includes community-based interventions, such as comprehensive treatment planning, collaboration with health care providers, peer counseling, life-skills training, and other support services.
