Program Goals and Objectives

Actuarial Intern Program
The Actuarial Internship Program at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in pursuing an actuarial career the opportunity to spend their summer working on challenging projects in a professional environment. Each intern will be paired with an experienced actuarial manager who will serve as his or her supervisor throughout the internship. In the past, actuarial interns have worked in all areas of the Actuarial Department including pricing, reserving, product development, financial planning, provider contracting, and financial reporting on a variety of interesting assignments. In addition, interns have had the opportunity to meet leaders from various functional areas throughout the company, and participate in training programs developed specifically to broaden their background in health care, finance, and technology.
Inroads Program
INROADS is a national organization that has helped businesses gain greater access to diverse talent by identifying and providing professional development to high-performing minority college students.The internship is a 10-week program during which the interns are incorporated into the business areas while attending weekend INROADS-sponsored business skills seminars.Interns will be expected to deliver a 10-minute presentation on his/her business area projects at the end of the summer to a group of senior leaders.
