Medex Bronze
MedexA Medicare supplement (Medigap) policy offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. 
Bronze is a Medicare supplement plan. It can be added to Medicare Parts A and B to fill "gaps" in your Medicare coverageMade up of two parts: Hospital Insurance (Part A) and Medical Insurance (Part B). (See Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance); Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance).) . As a supplemental insurance plan, Medex Bronze helps cover health care expenses left over after Medicare has covered its portion of costs.
Medex Bronze provides more coverage than Medex Core. For example, Medex Bronze covers 100 percent of your co-insuranceThe percentage you may have to pay after you pay any plan deductibles. In Original Medicare, this is a percentage (like 20%) of the Medicare approved amount. and deductibleThe amount you must pay for health care before Medicare begins to pay, either for each benefit period for Part A, or each year for Part B. These amounts can change every year. for doctor visits, home visits, ambulatory care, and hospitalization, whereas Medex Core provides the same coverage, but only after you pay your annual Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B deductible. Medex Bronze also provides full coverage for care received outside the United States.
With either Medex Core or Medex Bronze, you can seek care from any provider participating in Medicare. There's no need to choose a primary care physicianA doctor who is trained to give you basic care. In many Medicare managed care plans, you must see your primary care doctor before you see any other health care provider. or get a referral. With Medex, you get the peace of mind knowing that you carry a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts ID card—the most recognized ID card in health care today.

Medex Bronze does not offer a prescription drug benefit. However, you can choose to purchase our Medicare Part D prescription plan, Blue MedicareRx, for prescription coverage. Learn more about Blue MedicareRx*.
Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for any of our Medex plans if you meet the following requirements:
- You live in Massachusetts, and
- You are entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B, or
- You are under age 65 and you qualify for Medicare coverage because of a disability, except for end-stage renal disease.
