Dental coverage is different from medical coverage, with unique terms and conditions.
- Basic dental plans help offset the costs of diagnostic and preventive dental care.
- More comprehensive plans may also cover a percentage of services related to restorative care (such as fillings), oral surgery, orthodontics, or other complex procedures.
- Most plans apply a limit on benefit expenditures per calendar year (or per lifetime, in the case of orthodontic benefits). Once this calendar-year limit is reached, no additional services will be covered until the following year.
