Time for your screening?
Your body needs cholesterol to make hormones and to stay healthy. Your body naturally produces all the cholesterol it needs. However, many of the foods we eat, such as meat, poultry, and fish contain cholesterol. And exceeding the body's cholesterol and caloric needs may result in high cholesterol, which could increase your risk of heart disease.

Most people don't know they have high cholesterol, so getting screened is important.

Who should be screened and how often?
Everyone age 20 and older should have his or her cholesterol checked at least once every five years.
