What is Insomnia?
Sleep. We spend one third of our lives in bed. It is estimated that 58 percent of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts members experience some form of insomnia each year.
Insomnia is a disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or both. With insomnia, you usually awaken feeling unrefreshed, which takes a toll on your ability to function during the day. Episodes of insomnia may come and go (episodic), last up to 3 weeks (short-term), or be long-lasting (chronic).
