Basic Option

Basic Option provides comprehensive medical benefits and is a very popular plan. You choose your doctors from our nationwide network of preferred providers. No need for referrals and there's no deductible!

Basic Option members must receive their care within the preferred provider network (except in certain circumstances). Nationwide there are over 350,000 preferred providers to choose from. In Massachusetts alone, there are over 30,000 preferred providers. Most services are covered after paying a single copayment.

Features of the plan include:

• $25 per visit to primary doctor / $35 per visit to specialist

• No copayment for adult preventive care and well-child care to age 22

• For members 18 years old and above, complete the Blue Health Assessment and three online coaching sessions to receive up to $50 on a MyBlue Wellness debit card (maximum of two cards per family)

• $25 per visit for covered adult and children's preventive dental care

• Retail Preferred Pharmacy Program (mail service is not available)

  • $10 generics

  • $40 preferred brand

  • 50% co-insurance non-preferred brand ($50 minimum)

  • $50 specialty medications at retail pharmacy

  • $40 specialty medications through Specialty Pharmacy

• Specialty Pharmacy Program

  • $40 copayment specialty drugs (34-day supply)

  • $120 copayment specialty drugs (90-day supply)

• Catastrophic Protection Benefit
